His name came to my mind recently. The years had gone by and it was now over 15 years since I saw him. Looking at the phone, I wondered if his number still worked. I dialed and he answered. In less than a millisecond he mentioned my name. His voice brought back a tsunami of wonderful memories. Interestingly he is now a famous neurosurgeon specializing in cancer treatment. He asked how I was doing. I shared the joy of serving the Lord as the "Chief Encouraging Officer" for California Southern Baptists. It was special. I noticed an unusual lift in our voices and we both realized that the years had not affected our solid friendship. No shifting sand in this friendship. Three important lessons we agreed will always be in our hearts: Don't forget your yesterdays, thank God for friends he gave us, and don't let distance and time take away the connections.
